All people with lymphoma in NSW should have their treatment overseen by a multidisciplinary cancer care team (MDT).

Tests and timeframes
National optimal care pathways have been developed to guide recommended care at each stage of the cancer pathway.
Tests for lymphoma
Initial tests may be organised by the general practitioner (GP) and can include:
- a full blood examination
- ultrasound
- chest radiography
- computed tomography (CT) scan
- a biopsy or a period of observation.
Timeframes for referral
For people with Hodgkin and diffuse large B-cell lymphomas:
- People with moderate or severe symptoms require consultation within two days.
- The specialist consultation should take place within two weeks of the initial GP appointment.
- Initial treatment should commence within two weeks of diagnosis.
- If the cancer compromises a critical organ or progresses rapidly, treatment may start as early as within 24 hours.
