Broken Hill Health Service is a rural teaching hospital, providing acute, non-acute and outpatient services to the Broken Hill and surrounding communities. It has general medical, surgical, obstetric, paediatric, mental health, dialysis and special care beds, as well as operating theatres, intensive and coronary care units, palliative care and rehabilitation.
There is a visiting medical oncology, urology, plastic surgery (skin) and gastroenterology service. Radiation oncology, medical oncology and haematology clinics are run using telemedicine.
Support services include radiology, pharmacy and pathology departments, as well as a wide range of allied and primary health services. Community services include nursing, mental health and dental.
Broken Hill Health Service is a part of the Far West Local Health District.
